The Greater Metropolitan Housing Corporation has pioneered the idea of bungalow courts within Minneapolis. Main Street Bungalow Court, located six 1-1/2 story homes on two residential lots near St. Anthony Main. The project was completed in 2006. These energy efficient homes, with large front porches and compact footprints, provided increased density, compared to conventional housing design, while at the same time maintaining autonomy for residents wishing downsize or live more modestly. The two bedroom cottages, with the potential for additional finished space in the basement, each have a single garage stall located at the alley. The project blends beautifully into the surrounding neighborhood.
